Taking Care of your eyelashes after Lash Lift and/or Lash Tint

Within 12 hours of getting a Lash Lift and/or Tint, you should avoid:

  • getting your lashes wet,
  • sleeping on your face, and
  • applying makeup, serums, or other products directly to your lashes

After 12 hours, you can relax a bit and focus on maintaining your Lash Lift and Tint to get the most longevity out of your treatment. In the days and weeks following your appointment, try to brush your lashes with a dry spoolie (we will provide one after your appointment) every day, preferably just after you wake up.

You can apply lash serums and conditioners to your lash line when cleaning your face and eye area to keep your eyelashes hydrated and glossy.

You should generally avoid rubbing or tugging your eyelashes, but it's especially important not to after your Lash Lift and Tint treatment. You should also try sleeping on your back or side to reduce overnight friction that could affect your eyelash curl.

If you receive a Lash Tint, keep in mind that exposure to chlorine and direct sunlight can shorten the tint’s longevity. Simply protect your lashes with goggles, sunglasses, and hats if you are going to be in chlorine or sunlight for prolonged periods of time.

Questions Our Customers Ask About Lash Lifting & Tinting:

  • What is a lash lift and tint?

A Lash Lift and Tint shapes and tints your natural lashes to give a curled,  mascara-like appearance without needing to apply mascara or curl your own lashes for as long as the treatment lasts. Lash Lifts and Tints are very low-maintenance and can be the perfect alternative to Lash Extensions if you prefer that easy style.

  • How long does lash lift and tint last?

Typically, you can expect a Lash Lift to last between 4 and 8 weeks, and a Lash Tint between 3 and 6 weeks. We know that’s a pretty wide range, and your individual results will depend on a few factors.

Perhaps the most impactful factor is how quickly your natural eyelashes grow. Fast-growing lashes are generally a great thing, but they will reduce the lifespan of your Lash Lift and Tint.

Following aftercare tips can help extend your treatment’s durability and reduce eyelash loss. Lash Lift and Tint treatments provide low-maintenance results, so try not to overcomplicate your aftercare routine with numerous eye masks and products.

  • Can I still wear mascara with a lash lift?

Lash Lifts offer the opportunity to get a mascara-like effect with semi-permanent lift and curl. If you love a more defined, dramatic eye with your Lash Lift, we recommend booking a Lash Lift & Tint rather than applying mascara. The Lash Tint darkens your eyelashes for weeks after your treatment so you can take advantage of a stunning, low-maintenance look!

If you do decide to apply mascara after a Lash Lift, be sure to wait until at least 12 hours after your treatment. When removing mascara—or any makeup around your eyes—after your treatment, stay away from oil-based makeup removers. Oil-based products around your lash line can break down the solution that lifts your natural eyelashes. You should avoid waterproof mascara altogether as it can be very hard to remove and could cause too much rubbing or pulling at your lashes.

Don’t forget to remove all makeup before you sleep, especially around your eyes following a Lash Lift and/or Tint.

  • Is lash lift worth it for short eyelashes?

Short lashes are well-suited for Lash Lifts. The procedure involves lifting the eyelashes at the root, which makes the whole lash appear longer! Adding a Lash Tint can boost the effect, especially if sun-bleached tips make your eyelashes look shorter than they are. Plus, you won’t need to use eyelash curlers or mascara afterwards, which are often not made for short lashes.

We can accommodate almost any eyelash length, although lashes that are at least 4mm will have the most effective results. When you arrive for your appointment, your lash expert will examine your lashes to assess if they are long and healthy enough for the treatment.

  • How do I prepare for a lash lift?

One way to feel prepared for your lash lift is to understand the process. First, your lash expert will check if your natural eyelashes are long and healthy enough to receive the Lash Lift. Then, they will wash your eye area with a lash specific cleanser. Next, they shape and place a silicon pad called a “shield” to lift and curl the lashes. Then, they apply a softening solution to make the lashes more flexible, and finally, a setting solution to lock in the new lash shape and style. Once the lash stylist cleans up and adds a little keratin nourishing oil, you’ll look fabulous!

To get the best results from your appointment, remove all makeup, take out contact lenses, try to be well-rested and hydrated, and avoid consuming caffeine. Sleeplessness, dehydration, and stimulants like caffeine may cause twitching during your treatment.

Be sure to tell your lash expert if you are on any medications, have allergies, or are pregnant, so they can use the right products for your health. We can also do a patch test with any products used in your treatment to ensure your body doesn’t have reactions.
